Why Zerto Landed in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup and Recovery
If you were not aware, Zerto has made it onto the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup and Recovery for the first time in its history. We placed in the top right of the Niche category, which we are very excited about as this is where most new entrants find themselves before moving up and to the right very soon after.
Let’s look at some of the reasons Zerto is recognized in the Magic Quadrant for the first time.
CONTINUOUS BACKUP
Zerto’s continuous backup solution gives organizations the ability to minimize data loss for all workloads. Our data protection doesn’t rely on snapshots, agents, nor a specific type of storage. Utilizing our best-in-class data replication engine, Zerto can reach an RPO of seconds and RTO of just minutes across your whole site, a single application, a single VM, or even down to a single file.
BYE-BYE BACKUP WINDOWS
Our cloud data management and protection platform has zero impact on production VM’s during protection and recovery. This means organizations can retire backup windows from their schedules as backups will no longer stun VM’s or cause performance issues, meaning that backups must no longer occur outside of core working hours.
JOURNAL FILE-LEVEL RECOVERY
Imagine restoring a file from just seconds ago directly back into production within just minutes, allowing users to continue working with the absolute minimum downtime and data loss to their documents. This is all available within the Zerto platform and, this will not only delight users and customers because they can get their data back quickly and to just seconds before the disruption occurred, but also free up time for IT administrators and avoid that awkward line “sorry the backups haven’t run yet, we can’t get that back for you”.
LONG TERM RETENTION
Zerto’s long-term retention capability allows data that has already been replicated for either backup or DR purposes to be stored in a location away from production. This will enable organizations to retain data for as long as they need on any storage they would like to use. This can be from a cloud offering from AWS or Azure, secondary storage targets utilizing NFS or SMB, or a Purpose-Built Backup Appliance such as HPE StoreOnce. This gives enormous efficiencies as we are not copying data directly from production but from a replica that has already been created, ensuring a zero-risk backup approach.
When the judging occurred, these were the main capabilities showcased to the judges and has placed us in a very good place for our first entry on the Magic Quadrant.
