If you’ve been keeping up with Zerto news over the past few months, you may have noticed a trend toward the global, enterprise-level companies aligning with us to deliver powerful replication and orchestration capabilities to their service offerings. We’re very proud that Zerto’s Virtual Replication (ZVR) is production-proven to the point that the largest software and hardware companies in the world are placing their confidence in us to protect and recover their data and have ZVR integrated into their service offerings. These partnerships show that our focus on delivering flexible, platform-agnostic and resilient IT is what forward-thinking companies are concerned about these days.

When VMware and IBM announced they would be working together to bring VMware Cloud Foundation to the IBM Cloud (formally known as SoftLayer), they collectively introduced a platform geared toward allowing large quantities of virtual machines to run in the cloud — yet preserve on-premise administrative functionality and feel, which is quite different from a pure, public cloud solution.

For a little more background on the VMware offering, VMware Cloud Foundation includes VMware SDDC Manager, which helps both service providers automate the deployment and management of VMware’s entire cloud stack. The primary function of the offering is to give cloud operators a tool to deploy, configure, patch and upgrade the entire system including NSX, VSAN and vCenter. VMware Cloud Foundation on IBM Cloud is effectively replacing VMware vCloud Air.

Since the IBM/VMware combined platform was designed to scale, it was very important to have a scalable disaster recovery and migration tool natively built into the combined offering.  Enter Zerto’s Virtual Replication.

Zerto’s Virtual Replication will be the standard software for protecting the new IBM Cloud offering that’s based on VMware Cloud Foundation™ for any environment greater than 20 VMs.

As with any other deployment of Zerto’s Virtual Replication, we have kept it simple to install into the SDDC. ZVR integrates into VMware Cloud Foundation on the IBM Cloud and installs seamlessly into the VMware vSphere environment and is also ready to use in minutes. Applications are easily replicated to any other IBM Cloud SDDC over the IBM Cloud Direct Link across any distance.

ZVR and IBM Cloud

Zerto’s Virtual Replication can recover cloud applications with recovery point objectives (RPO) of seconds and recovery time objectives (RTO) of minutes. ZVR automates the failover tasks once they are configured and works seamlessly in the SDDC.

We are excited to join IBM and VMware to do what we do best: bring Zerto’s world-class data protection and Resilient IT to the IBM Cloud SDDC.
