With all the excitement of VMworld once again wrapped up for the year, we wanted to take a moment to look at a particular highlight from the event in Barcelona – the “Best of VMworld Europe User Awards”.

This year, we are proud to say that the award for “Best Data Security & Data Protection Project” went to one of our customers right here in the UK, Gleadell Agriculture, for their implementation of Zerto.

Gleadell Agriculture are a leading independent trader of all grains, oilseeds and pulses to markets in the UK and EU.  ZVR is used primarily to protect the business’ core financial trading system, providing Continuous Data Protection for highly transactional databases where even a few minutes of data loss can be very costly.

A key attribute of ZVR is the ability to easily test the recovery of applications without impacting their performance or availability.  Gleadell are now one of very few businesses who can say that they are able to fully test recovery capabilities every day in just 15 minutes.

“For business confidence, our business continuity infrastructure and the integrity of replicated data is the one thing we check above all else, every day. After all, backups are useless until you test them and prove they’re not.” – Tristan Hargreaves, IT infrastructure and support manager at Gleadell.

Underpinning all this protection is an infrastructure that, thanks to Zerto, is now truly resilient in the face of change.  Gleadell have been running a cloud-first strategy with the development of new bespoke applications in Microsoft Azure.  They intend to move all production workloads into Azure and protect them back to an on-premises site in the near future – with all of this to be enabled by ZVR.

It’s great to see all the hard work put in by the team at Gleadell Agriculture get recognised with such a prestigious award and we’re looking forward to seeing the completion of the next step in their cloud-first strategy with Azure.

We’ll bring you more on that story in the coming months but for now, if you want to read the original case study in full you can find it here.  Full details of this year’s awards can be found here.
