Microsoft Ignite 2024 Recap - Zerto

Microsoft Ignite 2024 Recap

Est. Reading Time: 3 minutes

Chicago may be chilly this time of year, but Ignite 2024 brought the heat. Microsoft fanned the flames of Cloud and AI excitement for both partners and customers, uniting audiences for the first time in a single conference, and everyone felt the energy. Over 10,000 attendees participated in person during the event held November 18–22, with another 250,000 people attending online.

Advancing Hybrid Cloud

In addition to the transformative power of innovations like AI and machine learning, this year’s conference definitively underscored the advancing hybrid cloud landscape. Zerto, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company, stood out as a pivotal player in these discussions by enabling organizations to adopt a full hybrid cloud strategy and seamless virtual workload mobility.

Igniting Mobility and Data Protection with Zerto

For the past decade, IT pros have recognized Zerto as a proven leader in the realm of disaster recovery. This year’s conference highlighted a lesser-known but timely use case—orchestrated migration from on-premises environments to Azure, as well as to other clouds or hypervisors.

Participants who are new to Zerto learned their organization can easily create its first hybrid cloud experience by using Zerto to recover virtual machines to native Microsoft Azure as a disaster recovery target or leverage Zerto to migrate off their virtual on-premises infrastructures to Microsoft Azure. Whether the job is failing over or migrating to Microsoft Azure completely, Zerto provides an automated and orchestrated solution that includes nondisruptive testing, ensuring minimal downtime.

Multi-disk consistency in Azure means protection for virtual machines (VMs) with multiple disks, maintaining cross-volume consistency while replicating out of Azure or across Azure regions.

Disaster Recovery Across Azure Regions

Once in Microsoft Azure, Zerto can provide that same level of enterprise disaster recovery across Microsoft Azure Regions.

By using Zerto to perform disaster recovery between Azure regions, organizations can rapidly rewind and recover individual files, folders, VMs, and applications—as well as entire sites—from any point in time within the journal.

Continued Support for Microsoft AVS

In addition to native Azure IaaS, Zerto also fully supports Microsoft Azure VMware Solution (AVS), a customer-dedicated, isolated hardware platform running VMWare vSphere. Zerto on AVS unlocks the full potential of Azure’s capacity and scale while leveraging familiar VMware tooling for data protection.

Wrap-Up

Combining Zerto and Microsoft Azure helps you achieve IT resilience by converging disaster recovery, data protection, and cloud mobility. Fast and flexible workload migration between Azure regions helps you accelerate cloud adoption, while Zerto provides:

  • Disaster recovery in Azure. Realize significant cost savings by making Microsoft Azure a disaster recovery site and only pay for what you use with limitless burst capacity.
  • Easy migrations to, from, and between Azure sites. Zerto migrates applications and data to the cloud quickly, correctly, and without impact to production environments. This includes migrating between Azure regions. Deploy Zerto in any underlying infrastructure without configuration changes required.
  • Native VMware on Azure. Zerto supports Azure VMware Solution (AVS), allowing you to seamlessly migrate workloads to Microsoft Azure without changing your applications, making it easy to take your disaster recovery to the cloud.
