Zerto's Cyber Resilience at Black Hat 2024

Zerto Brings Cyber Resilience to Black Hat 2024

Est. Reading Time: 3 minutes

We’ve returned from Black Hat 2024 in Las Vegas, where the security community showcased the breadth and depth of the solutions to combat the ever-evolving cyber threat landscape. This year, the spotlight was firmly placed on generative AI and the recent global IT disruption that hamstrung thousands of companies.

Zerto, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, reinforced its critical message, which is always timely given the rapid-fire occurrence and magnitude of new disruptions: disaster recovery and cyber resilience. In the wake of recent ransomware attacks and IT disruptions, Zerto showed how its solutions play a pivotal role in a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy.

Integration with HPE’s Portfolio for Comprehensive Protection

Zerto leverages HPE’s full portfolio—including HPE Aruba Networking, HPE Storage, and HPE Compute—to deliver advanced ransomware protection encapsulated within the Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault. This single-vendor solution is designed to cover multiple functions of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0, acting as a crucial first line of defense and a rapid recovery solution after incidents like ransomware attacks or IT outages.

Combined HPE Capabilities and NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0

Security professionals will probably already know that the NIST CSF 2.0 recommends six sets of guidelines or best practices: govern, identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover.

Here’s how our combined capabilities map to those NIST CSF 2.0 functions:

1. Govern

The Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault includes purpose-built workflows and access controls for cyber resilience, filling an all-too-common gap in governance frameworks and policies.

2. Identify

AI-powered visibility and security observability with HPE Aruba Networking Central helps organizations ensure they understand their current cybersecurity risks.

3. Protect

HPE Alletra Storage MP’s Immutable Snapshots ensure data protection with encrypted continuous replication.

4. Detect

Detect danger with Zerto’s real-time encryption detection and continuous attack signal scanning, coupled with HPE Aruba Networking’s network detection, rogue device detection, and intrusion detection.

5. Respond

HPE Aruba Networking ClearPass enhances response capabilities.

6. Recover

By pairing Zerto’s industry-leading low RTOs and RPOs with a high-performance, air-gapped clean room for you to perform and test critical recovery operations, the Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault enables you to recover swiftly and reliably.

At Black Hat, we demonstrated that Zerto is not just about recovery—it’s about resilience. With the integration into HPE’s portfolio, we’re equipping businesses with the tools they need to not just survive a cyberattack, but to prepare, test, and prove compliance with confidence.
