VM's still replicating when powered off

  • We are a cloud provider and from time to time, our ZVM does not show that the production environment VM is powered off.. We are currently protecting a set of VMs in our own environment that are powered off, however the ZVm is not reflecting that. Should it still be replicating powered off VM’s or is this another issue?

    Hello,

    Mike from Zerto here.

If the VM has completed its initial sync, the VM should be able to be powered off and replication will still continue without issue. Checkpoints will continue to be sent but they will contain no data as the disks aren’t changing. If the VMs are powered off during a delta sync or initial sync is occurring, that would cause issues.
We don’t monitor for the power states of VM’s but if a VM is powered off during a sync, an alert will be generated.
