Zerto reverse Replicate

  •

“What are the minimum requirements to use reverse protection for a Move or Failover Live operation and avoid starting replication to new disks?”

    Hello,

This is Vladimir M with Zerto.

There is no requirements needed for reverse protection.

Essentially, if reverse replication is used during a move or live failover, the ZVM will automatically unmount these disks and use them for preseeding, assuming that all settings in the reverse replication settings are valid. Once the disks are being used for the VPG, we will then delete the VM from inventory. Then a delta sync will occur for the VPGs.

Here is a link that explains more about reverse replication: http://s3.amazonaws.com/zertodownload_docs/Latest/Zerto%20Virtual%20Replication%20Zerto%20Virtual%20Manager%20(ZVM)%20-%20vSphere%20Online%20Help/content/adminvc/reverse_protection_for_a_failed_over_vpg.htm?Highlight=reverse

    hello  Benjamin Guerrero Garcia

    Yaron S from Zerto here

When you specify reverse protection, the virtual machines are moved to the recovery site and then protected using the values specified during the move. Data is promoted from the journal to the moved virtual machines and then synchronization with the original site is performed so that the VPG is fully protected. The synchronization performed uses the original protected disks and is either a Delta Sync or if there is only one volume to synchronize, a Volume Delta Sync. A sync is required since the recovered machines can be updated while data is being promoted.
for summerize as long as the resources requirements (storage) is enough you should be ok you can calculate the minimum requirements with the ZPLANNER in ZERTO analytics
    Best regards
