VPG Force Shutdown as default
The forum ‘Support Q & A’ is closed to new topics and replies.
Hi,
Is it possible to set the “Force Shutdown”-Option as default for a VPG when we do a Failover?
And if it is, what happens during an Failover when the VMs aren’t reachable and we have this Option active.
Hi Nicole!
About your first question – you need to always check “Force shutdown” manually in order to not lose information or to not crash the guest OS when doing unexpected powering off the VM. By default, it recommended to do gracefully shut down before forcibly powering them off.
About second question – when you start Test Failover or Live Failover with this option checked, but VM is unreachable – you will receive an error .
In this particular case you need to choose option “VM Shutdown” – “No”, as described in KB below:
“This assumes that you do not know the state of the protected machines, or you know that they are not serviceable.”
Feel free to ask more questions related.
Best regards,
Roman T.
