Control Email Alerts via Powershell

    Can anyone tell me if its possible to pause the sending of email alerts via powershell ? I would like to do this as part of our monthly maint weekends but I can only do it via GUI which is time consuming. Its a site setting and the tick box is “Enable Sending Alerts” under Site Settings
