Is HP Simplivity supported by Zerto.

  • We are looking at putting HP simplivity in some of our smaller sites. Wanting to know if Zerto has any issues with it.

    Hi Nir,

Since Zerto operates on the hypervisor level and is storage-agnostic, HP Simplivity will work.

This is because Zerto treats all storage the same. All that matters is that it can see it and write to it.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you,

    Hi there,

This is Brian from Zerto, just wanted to add my 2 cents here.

Customers protecting virtual machines with Zerto in an environment utilizing Simplivity may notice higher than usual RTO’s when doing one of the following operations:

    Fail Over Test
    Move
    Fail Over Live
    Clone
    Change Recovery Host
    Create VPG with Preseed
    Reverse Replication
Delete VPG and keep disks (with Zorg)

For Simplivity, the cause of the issue is due to how the hyperconverged solution “moves” files from one folder to another within a datastore. Currently, the Simplivity solution has to copy the entire contents of the VMDK’s into the new folder and delete the old VMDK. This causes the RTO to increase during Fail Over Live / Move operations.
If you experience high RTOs, kindly contact Zerto support so we can assist.

Are there still issues surrounding Zerto and HPE Simplivity?

    Hi Blaine,

AJ from Zerto support here. Zerto and HPE Simplivity have made improvements to better handle the time it took to complete live failovers. HPE has created a tool to simplify and accelerate the failovers. More information can be found here: https://myenterpriselicense.hpe.com/cwp-ui/free-software/R0S38-63101

Before integrating the tool into the environment. I recommend opening up a support ticket with Zerto to obtain more information.
