DNS Update After Failover
The forum ‘General Discussion’ is closed to new topics and replies.
Hi,
When we failover between sites, we update the IP address of the machines. It’s all working very well. However, some remote sites take some time to update DNS with the new addresses. What do others do around this issue?
Thanks,
Ciarán
Bump to see if anyone has any thoughts on this?
The default replication in DNS is 15 minutes -anyone change this with/without consequences?
Thanks,
Hello Ciaran.
This may be a bit late, you could always force DNS to replicate from the DNS master; update any clients as necessary.
I have a colleague who employs this strategy – it seems to work.
