Enable data File encryption

  • Team,

We need to enable data File encryption for a VPG. Please advise.

    Hello Steve,
We assume that you refer to file encryption on a VM with applications such as BitLocker for a non-boot disks. If that is the case than you can protect your VM’s with Zerto.
Note! if you use VMware VM encryption feature you cannot protected this VMs with Zerto.

More generally, Zerto leverages encryption throughout the environment to ensure that information cannot be compromised:
    • Access to the Zerto management UI is encrypted (HTTPS).
    • Communication between the Zerto Virtual Manager and the vCenter Server is encrypted (HTTPS).
    • Communication between the Zerto Virtual Manager and vCloud Connector is encrypted (HTTPS).
    • Communication between the Zerto Virtual Manager and the ESX/ESXi hosts is encrypted (HTTPS).
    • Communication between the Zerto Virtual Manager and the Microsoft SCVMM is encrypted (HTTPS).
    • Communication across networks can be encrypted using network encryption software such as VPN and IPsec.

Zerto does not natively encrypt data across the WAN.
Zerto recommends segregating management and replication traffic from the rest of the network, in order to mitigate any unknown vulnerabilities.

No, We want the destination data to be encrypted via Zerto.

I suggest connecting with your Zerto Solutions Architect on a design plan and, if necessary, a feature request to Zerto.

    Thanks,

    Sean Masters, Zerto

    Dear Support,

Does Zerto supports Bitlocker if the only the data volume is encrypted , not the OS?

Bitlocker in the guest OS level should be supported, keeps the guest-OS disks encrypted end-to-end.

    Dear All,

Is the latest Zerto can replicate VMware encrypted Virtual machines (such as Ver 7.0 U2)? Thanks.
