Hardware on Production Site and Recovery Site

  • Hello,

We have a VM in Production running on a Host that is more powerful than the Hosts on the Recovery site.

This VM has more Memory and CPU at the Production site than the Recovery site Hosts can provide.

Is it possible to set up a VPG and replicate this VM to this site? Allowing us to modify the CPU and Mem allocation, so that it will start up on the Recovery site with less CPU and Mem?

    Thank You

    Hello Fabiano,

    Contara from Zerto Support.

VRAs are the most important.  They the one is doing the replication between each other.

When installing VRA, the default setting for VRA CPU is 1 and Memory is 3 gig.

If the ESXi host has a lot of resources that doesn’t mean it’s helping the VRA replication.  Increase VRA resources does help the VRA replication(If the VRA resources are max out).

Can you please elaborate on your question.   I don’t understand your question.

    Thank you.

    Hi Contara,

Sorry if my original question was not clear.

Site 1 Replicates to Site 2.

The ESX Host Cluster at Site 1, is a class above Site 2.
( That is, Site 1 has more CPU power and Mem than Site 2 )

We created a VPG with one VM.
This Production VM uses a good deal of Memory and CPU
It is Replicating Perfectly to Site 2., no errors at all.

When we try a Failover test , we get the following message in Virtual Center :

“” No host is compatible with the Virtual Machine “”

We know that the reason for the error is that the VM has more Memory and CPU allocated than site 2 can provide.

During the Failover test, If we try to modify the CPU and Mem of the TEST VM, we get this message from Zerto :

“”” Solution Zerto Plugin manages the selected virtual machine.
You should not modify the the virtual machine directly
Use the management console of the solution to make changes. “””

So Replication is working, and during the Failover test the machine is created, but we can not start it up.
Is there a way to modify The CPU and Mem allocation of the VM thru Zerto ?

    Thanks for any insight.

    Hello Fabiano,

    Ofri from Zerto Support.

At the moment, there is no way to modify the CPU and Mem allocation of a VM through Zerto.

You can submit a feature request to have this feature added in a future version of Zerto using the following link:
