Snapshot based backups

For people who use snapshot based backups, what is the behavior of Zerto at the time the backups are taking place? What is the expected behavior? I’ve noticed Zerto very slow in replication during this time (if it even replicates at all). Does anyone else experience this?
I run snapshot based backups as well, and I don’t see any issue. Zerto simply sees the IO, and replicates it. That IO can write to a snapshot file, or a regular VMDK file, but Zerto doesn’t really come into play at that point. It’s prior to that.
I don’t think taking a snapshot should impact your replication at all. I’m unsure why that might be happening. I get regular RPOs during snapshots.
