Zerto in a single VCSA
The forum ‘Support Q & A’ is closed to new topics and replies.
Could you give me some guidance on how to install Zerto in a singular 6.7 VCSA? I read the install docs and they appear written more for the old style vCenters. I understand the product and have used it with 5.5 vCenters.
Hello,
Bar from Zerto here.
There shouldn’t be any changes within the installation to vCSA 6.7 then the old vCSA.
By singular you mean you plan on self-replicating I assume.
This is our newest installation guide:
https://www.zerto.com/myzerto/zr_td/vsphere-installation-guide-zerto-virtual-replication-6-5-2-2/
Which refers to Zerto 7.5
In case you asked about something else that I didn’t provide the answer for, please elaborate.
I’ll post again when I get to the 1st point where i get confused
Basics first – we have one VCSA, we have three geographic locations (W1, W2 and K1). Latency between sites is almost non-existent. We have two vSphere Datacenters (D1 and D2). D1 has two clusters (C1 and C2) and D2 also has two clusters (C3 and C4). In short, the Datacenters cross geographical boundries. All works perfectly.
In the beginning, we want to focus on zerting between C1 and C3 but in time all clusters will be players. Question #1 – since there will be only one (?) ZVM, does it matter where it’s running??
Hello,
You are correct, there will be only 1 ZVM in self-replication.
You can review this for more information:
http://s3.amazonaws.com/zertodownload_docs/Latest/Zerto%20Virtual%20Replication%20Zerto%20Virtual%20Manager%20%28ZVM%29%20-%20vSphere%20Online%20Help/index.html#page/AdministratorforZertoVirtualManager%2FVPG_2_vC_VC.07.04.html%23ww1113563
With regards to your question, I would place the ZVM on the DR site so you will be able to initiate a DR operation in case of a disaster.
ok. 1st problem. the install will not accept my root/password for my vcsa. i’m using same creds i do to access vami. Neither IP or name work but i can ping vcsa by fqn.
bc
i got past that. A co-worker suggested administrator@vsphere.prod and i’m moving again
